EV Car Chargers

A charger on a regular wall outlet works, technically, the same way a garden hose technically fills a pool. We install the real circuit — sized right, placed where you actually park, permitted and inspected.

/ SOUND FAMILIAR

Any of these going on at your place?

  • New EV showing up in a few weeks
  • Charging off a regular wall outlet and it takes all night
  • Detached garage with no power run to it yet
  • Not sure the panel can carry a 48-amp circuit

/ WHAT’S INCLUDED

The scope, in writing.

Garage and outdoor charger installation
Panel assessment before we quote
Code-compliant installation
Trenching for detached garages and outbuildings (through Haywire Excavation)
Placement planned around where you actually park

/ HOW IT RUNS

Start to finish.

  1. Panel assessment first

Before we quote anything, we check whether the panel has room for a 40–50A circuit. That answer changes the job.

  2. Placement, planned around the car

Not where the wire happens to be easiest to run — where you actually pull in.

  3. Trenching, if the garage is detached

Haywire Excavation runs the trench the same week, not a separate job with a separate scheduling headache.

  4. Install and test

Charger mounted, circuit run, tested under load before we leave.

/ AMPERAGE + PLACEMENT

The two decisions that actually matter.

Every EV charger conversation comes down to these two questions. Everything else is detail.

/ SIGN

Level 1 vs. Level 2

Level 1 is the cord that came with the car, plugged into a regular outlet — it works, slowly, often overnight for a full charge. Level 2 needs a dedicated circuit, typically 40–50 amps, and charges several times faster. Most people who ask us out are ready for Level 2.

/ SIGN

32A vs. 48A circuit

Depends on the vehicle’s onboard charger and whether you might add a second EV later. We size it during the panel assessment, not by guessing.

/ SIGN

Garage, driveway, or detached building

A garage-mounted charger near the panel is the simple version. A detached garage or a spot at the end of a gravel driveway usually means trenching — which is where the two companies work as one.

/ SIGN

What the panel can actually carry

A 48A circuit is a real load. If the panel is already tight, this is the same conversation as the panel page — sometimes the charger job and the panel job are the same job.

/ FAQ

Quick answers.

Do you charge for an estimate?

We provide free estimates. A free estimate does not include any work that may be performed — if we can fix it on the spot, that becomes a separate conversation before anything gets done.

How far do you travel?

We work out of Winchester and cover about a 75-mile radius — Frederick, Clarke, Warren and Shenandoah counties in Virginia, plus the West Virginia Eastern Panhandle. We hold a Class A license in both states.
